To improve your skills, to contribute to the school, or simply to meet new people, volunteering offers great rewards.
Our parents, and often their relatives, offer their time and energy to various projects around school.
Craft groups meet throughout the year, making gifts and toys for sale in the shop or at our Spring and Advent fairs. Craft Group is a great way to learn new skills, or improve old ones, such as knitting, felting, doll-making and much more.
Craft Group meets weekly during term-term, and is a very social affair. Find them in the cafe on Tuesday mornings!
Volunteers are essential to open the shop during term time, they work for one hour (one shift) per week. All volunteers are given training in how to use the till and card machine, and any other shop duties (restocking shelves, cleaning, etc).
Volunteers don’t need to be good at maths or great at art, they just need to be willing to be part of the school community. It is an enjoyable and flexible job and if you are new to the school it is a great way to meet other parents.
We employ a shop manager, Theolyn, on a part-time basis. Please contact Theolyn via the shop or school office if you would like more information.
Our cafe manager is Jess, who also relies on volunteers to help out with running the cafe. If you would like to help cooking and serving in the cafe please get in touch. Jess can provide details of what’s involved and provide training.
Like the Craft Groups, volunteering in the shop and cafe is a very social activity.
Please keep an eye on the noticeboards near the school office, and on this website, for calls for help. There are many ways to contribute your time to school. We often need practical help with projects in the gardens and playgrounds, or with specific tasks in school.
We also run a skills database to which all parents are most welcome to enter their details!
