Local Area

We are lucky to be situated close to the River Ouse, just a beautiful stroll along the riverside from York City Centre.

Our school is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, between Fulford Road and the river.  A very short walk from the school gates are the allotments where the school children care for a walled garden.

Close by is a meadow on the way towards Fulford Ings, where children from Kindergarten upwards take weekly nature walks to observe the changing seasons.

After school, the playground in Rowntree’s Park, just over the river, is a favourite summer haunt for younger pupils.

A whole network of cycle paths and footpaths branches off around Millennium Bridge, and many of our children arrive by these routes, whether self- or parent-propelled.

The walk along the  North Bank (school side) of the river is a special treat all year round.  From the first snowdrops, through the freshest green canopy, to an abundance of conkers and the crispiest piles of fallen leaves and back again to frosted, bare branches it offers endless pleasure.
