Early Years

At York Steiner School, we begin from the earliest age as we mean to go on – by treating each child with understanding and sympathy.

We offer Gentle Beginnings groups specifically for parents with new babies and very young children, and Parent and Toddler groups for those with children under three years of age.  These gentle mornings are a perfect introduction to ‘the Steiner way’ for both parent and child alike.

Children aged three and over are eligible to join the  Kindergartens in the September following their 3rd birthday.

We have four Kindergartens, each caring for mixed groups of three-to-six year old children. Progression through Kindergarten prepares our children for the jump into the Main School.

Our Early Years Handbook provides a useful outline of the Early Years education, Early Years Handbook.

We understand that being a parent can be quite daunting.  To help parents understand the growth and development their child is going through, and to guide them with joy and love, we host a range of parenting courses.  These are advertised through the News section of this website, and on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

If you would like to experience at first-hand the beautiful environment created for the children, please contact the school (01904 654983) for a free taster session in our parent and toddler group.
