The spirit of friendship is central to the ethos of the school. It is nurtured in the toddler groups and develops still further as families move through the school.
Parent and Toddler groups cater for children up to 3½ years and their parents, and often grandparents or other carers too. The groups are small, making it easy to make new friends, seek advice and support, and explore approaches to parenting, and toddling, with the goal of enriching us all.
(If you have a baby as well as a toddler you can bring the little one along of course!)
We dedicate the first hour or so to free play, during which a craft activity is provided and what you have made, you can of course take home with you. Later, we sit down together for a simple meal. Then it is time to gather around in a circle for songs and rhymes, and in some groups a puppet play, before we all go our separate ways until next time. The groups are two hours long, and new families are welcome to experience a free taster session.
The clear rhythm to each session provides the young child with a sense of reassurance and continuity, and there is also a rhythm to the year. We celebrate its seasons and festivals in the group and often also as part of the larger community of the school.
Parents can borrow books about all aspects of Steiner education and general issues surrounding the care of the young child. The group leaders are also always there to answer questions and give information on any issues parents wish to ask about.
We run groups every weekday morning, from 9.30 until around 11.30am, and a Wednesday afternoon 1.30pm to 3.30pm
To arrange a booking or a free taster session please contact the school office.
