40+ years of eight plays a year. From the Railway Children to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Brer Anansi to the King of Island Sun, Shakespeare to Brecht, pantomimes, musicals and more.
Over many decades the children at York Steiner School have enjoyed a costume cupboard of dreams to bring to life their performing arts...
Yet 340-odd plays in, the costume cupboard had become a little cluttered. It was time for a clear out! A couture curious group of students and their parents joined the team at school for a Spring clean of the costume cupboard. Embracing their inner Marie Condo, and retaining only the items that 'sparked joy' (of which there were a few...) the team worked together to turn chaos into curation. If it was possible, the costume cupboard of dreams has somehow become even dreamier.A unique privilege of being in the York Steiner School community is the proximity and collaboration you can enjoy with your children's education. Coming together in community to care for our school helps us to build our connection to one another. Importantly, the contributions of time, energy and expertise from our community are an essential part of what supports our graduated fees structure to remain as accessible as possible. And, we have a lot of fun!Special thanks to our gang of students for giving over a day of their holiday to get stuck into the costume cupboard Spring clean. This years Class 8 play will be a performance of 12th Night! The show runs from 20th to 23rd May - tickets on sale soon![Best_Wordpress_Gallery id="16" gal_title="Costume Cupboard Caper"]
