Support that starts with knowing your child
Every child arrives with their own strengths, challenges, interests and way of experiencing the world.
If your child has a special educational need or disability, already receives additional support, or you simply have questions about what they might need, we would encourage you to talk to us.
You do not need to have everything worked out before getting in touch. Tell us a little about your child and what you would like to discuss, and we can begin the conversation from there.
Can York Steiner School support my child?
Many children who join our school find that the therapeutic qualities of a Steiner Waldorf school can help them to manage or overcome challenges they may have experienced in previous settings.
For some children, the Steiner Waldorf environment can present challenges. Formal classroom based learning, and working in larger groups can be challenging for some, for example.
We take a collaborative approach to supporting children in school. This means the parents, class teacher and Sendco working together and always with the child’s needs at the centre.
As a school we want to ensure that we have the skills and capability to support every child in our care. The best way to answer this question is to find out more about your child. Our friendly and knowledgeable admissions team are here to help.
You can see our SEND policy here.
